Last week, we announced our new pricing and "free device management" for individual developers. Golioth's prices have outwardly changed, making our platform more accessible for a wide variety of use cases. Internally, however, the change is more impactful. We've created a new framework for our pricing that better aligns with how we conceive Golioth as a product—Device Management, Data Routing, and Application Services.
We view “device management” as the category of features that every single IoT device on the planet needs.
Meanwhile, Golioth’s “data routing” features are designed for IoT sensors that capture data from the world and stream it up to the cloud.
Finally, our “application services” are intended to simplify the lives of IoT developers, for instance, by eliminating the need to set up and manage your own database.
We believe a fully-fledged IoT development platform requires all of these elements—but not every IoT application does — which is why think about and price each category independently.

P.S. You might have noticed a new friend in today’s image. It’s a little sneak peek of Echo. Echo is part bat, part dog, and has an amazing set of sensors. You’ll be seeing more of Echo soon.
